Tanner of Mesa, Arizona states "From Aunt Eliza (Lyde) Linton This is copied from a memorandum Lyde made. She says Grandpa (father) says a family of James Lintons went to California about 1848. He had two sons & two daughter and one brother who died. Father says Bro. McPherson of Nephi says the Lintons originated in Scotland. A man there had a large estate and 4 sons. They named each estate different names and the descendants finally took the name of their estate one of which was named Linton. "Grandpa had 4 cousins on his mothers side Robert - William Nancy and Mary Selfridge his mothers sister named Rebecca Selfridge md. James Nilson They had 2 sons Robert & William Nelson. Sis Margaret Sefridge died young, thinks these were all b. in Ireland. Our Gr father William Linton had 3 brothers settle in N. B. John James & Samuel. All had large families.
