I really enjoy your e-mails and find it fascinating to match up your memories of Dad's later life with mine of his earlier. You asked if he graduated from MIT. I never heard this and am sure it's not true. I know he went to a school called Boston Radio and got his radio knowledge there. On my birth certificate (1934) his employment is listed as " Radio Supervisor, B&M Airways". After that he held a series of non-technical jobs. The ones I can remember were with United Fruit (he had great stories of his trip to South America with them), Lever Brothers, Sales Manager for a tv distributor in Boston, a wire recorder salesman, and a job at Raytheon in Quality Assurance ( I think ). I'm sure there were many others since long-term jobs were not his long suit. Oh yes, he worked for some time as an engineer jobber - short term assignments with high pay. I can now add nudist beach manager!! As you probably know his family was pretty well off at the time Dad was getting his education. His brother Dick went to Andover Academy and then to Yale, while his sister Dorothy went to Boston Conservatory of Music or some other noted music school. I don't know about Mary's education. Dad graduated from Tilton Academy in North Hero, Vermont and I'm sure he could have gone to college. I can only imagine that his rebellious nature was involved in a decision to go to radio school. My mother had a picture of him on the football team at Tilton-- I hope my sister still has it- I'll get her to look. By the way, I've asked her to look for pictures so I can send you copies. She is slow unpacking but I'll keep after her. As for the genealogy --- I was born on 4/21/34 and Judy on 3/15/37. Judy never married, but I have two children by my first wife, Kimberly born 4/30/60 and Daniel born 3/19/63. Let me know if you want grandkids birth dates and with a little digging I can come up with them.

Private cremation services will be Thursday for William 'Bill' Knight , a longtime resident of Santa Cruz County, who died Monday at his Felton home following a long illness. He was 76. A native of Melrose, Mass., Mr. Knight had lived in Santa Cruz County for 25 years. He belonged to several amateur radio clubs and had a W6LWV radio license. He is survived by his sons, William C. Knight of Mount Herman and Richard Knight of Massachusetts; daughters, Judith Knight, Mary Knight, and Kathleen Knight. Private cremation services will be Thursday, Santa Cruz Cremation Service, 1570 Soguel Drive, is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Melrose Cemetery, Melrose,Mass.
