Horne d. 24 April 1881 (Note: later in probate process, date of death was given as 24 May 1881; this is the earliest statement of date of death) ----- On 24 Nov 1885, Chesterfield, South Carolina, Stephen Jackson, age 78, born in and resident of Chesterfield County, said 1st wife of Wm E. Horne was Sarah, daughter of "Louis Medder" [sic] Sr. who resided in Chesterfield County. Sarah m. Wm E. Horne about 1828 and d. in Anson County, North Carolina about 1841. Lewis Meador d. about 1844-45, after death of daughter, and was living when Wm E. Horne m. Sarah Dobs as his 2nd wife When Lewis Meador died he left Real Estate in North and South Carolina worth $8000-$10000, and Personal Estate of about $10000 exclusive of about $5000 in advances. Personal estate was all in South Carolina and included 18-20 slaves. Adison C. Moore and Wm E. Horne were executors ---------- Frederick W. Horne, son of W. E. Horne, was 13 in Spring of 1884, lived with his mother. He was of full age February 1891

The children of Sarah Meador Horn, daughter of Lewis Meador of Chesterfield County, South Carolina (30 Oct 1883): Nancy "Ann" Hamilton (Josiah) Elizabeth J. Hamilton (James W.) Lewis J. Horn d. 1863 in the army Mary Caroline Horn, dec'd Susan E. Marsh (Benjamin, d. 1859) d. 20 Dec 1880 in Union County, North Carolina (with a will) William T. Horn, Elisha J. Horn, d. 1862 all of whom survived their mother and were living when grandfather Lewis Meador died ----- Wm E. Horn and Sarah Meador married in Chesterfield County, South Carolina and lived in Anson County, North Carolina --------- Lewis Horn was 20 years old in 1861 Nancy Hamilton said she married 25 July 1857 at the age of 17 -------- Lewis Meador Sr. died Feb 1844, had 12 children, his estate distributed to 10 children. Lands in South Carolina were sold by Court order in April 1849, lands in Anson County, North Carolina sold in 1852. ------ Nancy Hamilton died before Nov 1889
