Like his wife who survived him (Anna Lucille {Boss}), Bill Hodgens donated his body to the University of Texas Medical School, at Galveston, Texas. The university had appealed for cadavers about a decade prior to his death. According to the Sallie DeWitt 1981 Genealogy, Bill Hodgens worked in a furniture factory in St. Louis, Missouri. He was an upholsterer who became known as a master craftsman. He was sought to do the most difficult upholstery jobs, and for jobs where fine tufting was required. He eventually became manager of Hodgens' Upholstery in Corpus Christi, Texas. In fact, he trained most of the young men who entered the upholstery business in that City. His grandchildren called him "Papa Bill".
