... 2. William, born June 9, 1745. William died prior to February 21, 1811, at which time his son, also William Hines, and the widow, Elizabeth, sold land to Benjamin Wyche, which his father had purchased from David Hines. See Sussex County Deed Book L, page 20. According to Hines and Allied Families, by Benjamin McFarland Hines, he was married to Elizabeth, and they had at least one son, who later lived in Greenville [Greensville] County, Virginia. It is also stated there that this is the William Hines who was the sheriff for some thirty years in Southampton County, Va. In Southside Virginia Families, John B. Boddie assigns that role to another William Hines, born c.1735, son of Thomas Hines (1705/15), and a first cousin to this William. Although Boddie fails to mention either this William Hines or his brother, Bolling Hines, we now believe that he was correct in designating the son of Thomas Hines as the William who was High Sheriff, as will be discussed under that family. He had at least one son:
a. William; moved to Greenville [Greensville] County, Virginia ..
