Willie Hall, Lee's father in-law went to Cattlesburg 1916-1917 to help
defend Lee JR. in a Moonshining case in federal court there. While there
he had to go to Ironton Ohio to get a Hotel, and in the lobby of the
hotel he had a confrontation with a man named Jim Fiddler, the result of
this confrontation was that Willie shot and killed Jim Fiddler. Willie
was tried for this murder but it was proven in court that Fiddler was the
agressor and also that he (Fiddler) was drunk, Willie was aquitted of the
charge. There was a warrent issued, and served on Lee JR. concerning
this incident. Officials of the Elkhorn Coal Company stepped in and and
had the charges against Lee JR. dropped or dismissed. One of the
Officials who went to Ironton to help clear up this situation was Son
