  8. There is a large gap between third and fourth wives, from 1833 to 1847, and the 1840 census shows a woman 50-60 living in his household. Based on the 1850 census, cited above, this is probably his sister Elizabeth, b. 1774, even though the age does not quite fit. Several secondary sources say William had only four wives, i.e., Cutter, Stearns, and MF5G Vol. 20, p. 230.
