    II. William H. Gilcrest; Born in Wayne County, Ohio, June 26th, 1834. Educated at Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio. He came to Des Moines, Iowa, with his older brother J. K. in 1856, and was interested with him in establishing the Gilcrest Lumber Company, with which he was connected until his death in 1898. His name is still retained in the style of the company. He was unmarried."
