"Mr. Eaton is well remembered by some of the present members of this Society. His father, Thomas Eaton, came here from Sudbury and married Susan Rice, whose father was the first white child born in Worcester. He married first Anna Gates, daughter of William Gates, and second Hannah Chadwick, daughter of David Chadwick. He served on the Board of Selectmen for twelve years, was Representative to the General Court for ten years, and was County Commissioner as well as a deputy sheriff. 'All the duties of these various offices,' said Hon. Isaac Davis, 'he discharged with kindness and abibilty. He was a man of strict integrity, upright and honorable in all business transactions, and commanded the respect and esteem of all who have the pleasure of his acquaintance.' He was born Sept. 10, 1766, and died May 4, 1859."

Case 18666: Eaton William, Worcester, 1859.
Will of William Eaton of Worcester ... Esquire, dated 7 Dec 1854, proved 5 Jul 1859, names son William Eaton; children of my son Russell Eaton, son Augustin Eaton, daughter Ana Gleason; my two grand Daughters Mary Gleason & Sarah E Gleason; daughter Sally C Eaton, she to be sole executrix. 29 Sep 1856: Codicil, having deeded estate to daughter Anna and granddaughters Mary E Gleason and Sarah E Gleason, so voids legacies to them in will. 14 Sep 1857: Codicil, modifies legacy to children of Russell Eaton. 7 Jun 1859: Heirs cited to appear to consider proving of will. 27 Jun 1903: Memorandum of Sarah A. Gates of Worcester, one of the children of Russell Eaton, that she believes all legacies were paid, that all other heirs (Sallie C. Eaton, sons William, Russell and Augustin Eaton, daughter Anna Gleason and granddaughters Mary Gleason and Sarah E. Gleason) are all deceased.
- Source:Molyneux, Nellie Zada Rice. History, Genealogical and Biographical of the Eaton Families, p. 201, appears, between typos and confusing text, to attribute the marriage to Anna Gates and Hannah Chadwick to a different William Eaton. But on p. 163, it attributes them to the right William Eaton. Great confusion is caused by a strange numbering system, but clearly this source has confused two people, and appears to be completely uncredible.
