    "Dr. W. P. Dumas died at the home of his brother, John Dumas, in Rockwall Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock after a lingering illness. His remains were brought here this morning and the funeral service was held from the Baptist church at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. T. B. Pittman preached the funeral sermon. There was a large attendance of the friends and acquaintances in this city, where Dr. Dumas residedfor fourteen years. Interment followed at the city cemetery. Dr. Dumas was 48 years of age at the time of his death. Source: Terrell Daily Transcript of 25 June 1900."
