1. Michael Patrick says in a letter to Hazel, 7 January 1919, that Willie was called to the colors on 5 August [1918]. He was sent to Co. A, 116 Engineers, American Expeditionary Force, Angers, France.
2. Will visited CES and Hazel in San Diego around 1918; they took him all over the area and even into Old Mexico.
