Facts and Events
His father was George Denison, born October 15, 1618 or 12 10 1620 Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England, died October 23, 1694 Hartford, Hartford, Conn. He was wounded in the Battle of York and Ann Lady Borrodel nursed him back to health, then they married in 1645. Capt. George Dennison came to this country with his father and two brothers about 1631, and settled in Roxbury, Mass. In 1640 he married Bridget Thompson of Stonington by whom he had two daughters. Upon her death in 1643, Capt. Dennison returned to England and engaged in the civil war, which was then going on there. Tradition in the family is that in an engagement in Ireland he was dangerously wounded, and in this situation was cast upon the hospitality of Mr. John Brodil of Cork, a gentleman of wealth who had only one daughter Anne Brodil, who became a ministering angel to him in his critical condition and great need. That he recovered and persuaded her to marry him and share his fortunes in this new world the sequel of events clearly prove. Ann Lady Borrodel, William's mother, was born 1615 Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England or Cork, Ireland. She died September 26, 1712 Stonington, New London Co, Conn. John Borrodel and Ann Broughton of Cork, Ireland were her parents. References
