Norma Dickey provided family info--she's heard our Davis' are probably of Welsh origin. Norma shows a birth date of 1852, but census records say different.

Listed in the 1850 Chickasaw County, Mississippi Census as 1 year old male (no name), born MS. With parents and siblings.

Listed in the 1860 Calhoun County, Mississippi Census as William Davis, age 12, born MS. With parents and siblings.

Listed in the 1870 Carroll County, Mississippi Census, Enumerated August 17, 1870. Township 20, Range 3 East, page 17, Dwelling 57, Household 57 as W.L. Davis, age 22, Farmer, born MS. With Elizabeth, age 17, born MS, and living in the same household as Elizabeth's family: B.W. Clark, age 52, born KY; Lewsinda (I think), age 48, born MS; G.W., male, age 15, born MS; S.A., female, born MS; J., male, age 10, born MS; P.L., female, age 7, born MS. Next door is a Catharine Young with 4 children, and there is a handwritten box around the Clarks, Davis', and the Youngs. Not sure what this could mean.

Listed in the 1880 Calhoun County, Mississippi Census, Enumerated June 4, 1880. District 16, page 624D, Dwelling 36, Household 37 as William Davis, age 31, married, born MS, parents born TN, Farmer. Listed with children John, age 10, born MS; Rolen, age 8, born MS; Larrance, age 3, born MS; Fannie, age 2, born MS; Florrance, age 1, born MS. Also in the house is Frankie (I think), mother, age 71, born SC, parents born SC; Sarah, sister, age 41, single, born AL, parents born SC. Next door is E. I. Davis, age 27, born MS, married, parents born SC. Also in the house with William are 3 laborers: George and Louis Avery, and James Sherfield.

According to Norma Dickey, it's possible Elizabeth moved out of the house because of Williams drinking.
