William and Elizabeth were married in Richmond, Va. , 1821. They settled in the area of Besoco or Walkertown.

William Cole came to the Beckley area from Gladstone, Va., about 1808.

He soon left that area, moved to Ohio. About 1812 he returned to W.Va., settled somewhere very near where Stoco High School was later built. Lego, Wva.

Sons of William Cole, Thomas, Bartley, William, and a daughter, Lucy. The son William drown while crossing Guyandotte River.

The ancestors of William came from England. Three brothers came and settled in three different places. Boston, Norfolk, and Charleston, S.C.

[Linda22's post notes that Thomas Cole, father of William b.1796, was one of three brothers, she believes, who came from England and settled in Richmond, VA area and then into Raleigh County area.] I posted a response to her message on 4-26-07.

Not sure where Bill Cole's information regarding birthdates comes from. Linda22 has postings on ancestry.com messageboard with more siblings names and dob and dod's. She indicates that William's dob was 1796 and that William's parents were Thomas and Anna.
