William must have been married prior to his marriage to Eliza Rich. There are children in the 1860 census who are too old to be her children.

27 Nov 2006: William must have been married to Deborah Sharp before Eiza. Deborah died 29 August 1850 and is buried in St Paul's.

1860 Alamance County census: Wm Anthony, 44 Eliza, 30 Jacob, 20 Barbara, 18 Eliza, 15 Polly, 10 Henry, 9 Emily, 8 Daniel, 4 Sarah, 2

I'm not sure when Eliza and William were married. I'm only going to show Daniel and Sarah as "their" children.
