Attende school at age 5 yr and had measles and chicken pox within a year of each other. Moved to Nelson as his parents moved shops to Nelson. They ran a 'Fish and Chip' shop. So he changed schools and again in 1931/2 age 6 or 7 they moved to Hornchurch in Essex. In 1935 he changed school again. as a new school was closer to home. At age 14yr he attended Clarks College to study for the entrance exam for the RAF Apprenticeship entrance exam. He passed the exam and in Aug 1939 entered the service. The apprenticeship was shortened to 2 yrs instead of 3yrs due to the war. Wilf reached the rank of Chief Technician the same rank as Warrent Officer.

Stayed in Holbrook Hall in Sept 1986 until his death.
