Mr. Ewing:
Apologies for the delayed response. As far as I can tell, DeForest (you didn't tell me his first name, so I just went with the last and the
invention) inventor of the vacuum tube did not have any associations with Columbia.
I'm glad the previous information was so helpful.
Best,
Jocelyn Wilk

Thank you very much for your quick response. The information is a great help and adds to the information I have on my father. I have information that dad worked with DeForest, the inventor of the vacuum tube. Was DeForest connected with Columbia at that time period or at any time? It may have been with Bell Labs when dad was there.
Thanks once again for your help

Dear Mr. Ewing:
Thank you for your e-mail. I have searched our standard sources for people associated with Columbia in the early 20th century and found only one item related to W.E. Ewing. According to the 1913/14 student directory, W.E. Ewing was a non-matriculated student in the School of Mines, Chemistry and Engineering. His hometown was listed as NYC and his local address was 222 West 23rd Street. Other than this directory information, I was unable to find anything else related to your father.
Best of luck with the rest of your genealogical research.
Sincerely,
Jocelyn K. Wilk

Help Needed;
I'm doing genealogy research on my family and need information about my father. I have information that Warren Elwood Ewing was at Columbia
from 1911 to 1915, either as a student or in some other capacity. Any information that you could provide would help my research.
Thank you.
