Wanda Collier Richards (Obituary) Our Beloved Mother, Wanda Collier Richards, age 84, died of natural causes February 22, 2003. She was born April 21, 1918 the third child of Walter and Elizabeth Southam Collier on a homestead in Vernal, UT. She married Marion (Hap) Swain, April 21, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. After a period of time as a single parent, she married Ben J. Richards Nov 25, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union, he brought four children and she brought three. They were later blessed with four more children. She was wonderful mother to them all. She loved being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a hard worker and taught her children to work. Her motto was, "An idle mind is the devil's workshop". She dedicated her life to her family. She enjoyed genealogy, family history, photography, and making her home and yards more beautiful. She was enthusiastic in all she did. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions including Relief Society, Cub Scouts, stake Sunday School board and visiting teacher. She is survived by her husband, Ben J. Richards; children, JoAnn (Dale) Merrell, William "Bill" (Marnell) Richards, Clifford L. (Nila) Richards, Lloyd W. (Shela) Swain, Pat (Conrad) Evans, H. Karl (Linda) Swain, Ben James (Rebecca) Richards, Ronald (Terry) Richards, Kristine (Brent) Cooper, Tyrell Mitchell (Julenne) Richards; 56 grandchildren; 94 great-grand-children; seven great great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nellie Farnsworth, Lila (Keith) Caldwell. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Winnie Evans; brother, Lloyd Walter Collier; daughter, Betty Irene Richards Merrell; son-in-law, Charles F. Gentry; and six grandchildren. Services will be Wed. Feb 26, 2003, 11 a.m. Uintah Stake Center, 4080 S. 2500 E. Friends may call Tues. 6-8 p.m. Spafford Funeral Home and Wed. 10-10:45 a.m. at the chapel.
