Walter and Lula lived in the Chambers Community of Hancock County where Walter operated a general store and did some farming. They were members of the Blackford Baptist Church where Walter served as a deacon.

Walter Elonzo and his family moved to Hawesville, KY where he operated a grocery store until 1941. In 1945, he and her son, Stanley, started a hardware store where he worked until he retired. Stanley bought his share of the business and operated the store until he retired in 1975.

Margaret Luella and Walter Elonzo were the parente of five children.
