Frederick Russell Snyder was his father. He was born about 1835. May 29, 1859 he married Marion Gorton, who was born March 29, 1838 in Waterloo Twp. She died in Stockbridge. Walter was one of 8 children.

Greene daughter of Albert and Florilla (Fargo) Green, of Warsaw, N. Y., Physician, Justice of the Peace, Member of School Board and Nominee for State Senator in 1891, Master Lodge of Masons, Horton, Mich.

Walter practiced medicine and established a drugstore which operated for several years. He retired from medicine in 1912. Several time president of the local school board, Walter was active in the Masons (Master Mason for several terms), Eastern Star and Maccabbees. He was even a candidate for State Senator on the Democratic ticket (year not given.)

In 1912 he had an office in the Carter Block in Jackson and a drugstore in Grand Rapids. Walter was also the head Physician at the State Institution at Ionia.
