Walter "Sockie" Bruehahn

Walter W. "Sockie" Bruehahn, son of Walter A. and Gladys (Schroeder) Bruehahn, was born September 6, 1934. He graduated from high school in 1952.

Walter was united in marriage to Lois Suckow June 2, 1957, at Maynard, Iowa. He served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957. Walter was engaged in farming.

Walter died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, IA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter; two nephews, Donald Dull and Allen Ball; and one niece, Joan Dull.

Survivors include his wife, Lois; one son, Wade Bruehahn, of Monona, Iowa; three daughters, Brenda and husband Brad Schneckloth of Ida Grove, Iowa; Bonnie and husband Larry Lembke of Postville, Iowa; and Barbara Schlitter of Luana, Iowa; his mother, Gladys Bruehahn of McGregor, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Alicia, Aaron and Aric Schneckloth, Curtis, Dana and Evan Lembke, Nikki and Amanda Schlitter; two sisters, Georgia and husband Gene Dull of Falls Church, Virginia, and Gracie and husband Donnie Plumlee of Ridgely, West Virginia, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 3, 1999, 11:00 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. Pastors Bill and Kristine Schroeder officiated. Organist was Mrs. Connie Halvorson.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Moses and Bob Ball. Pallbearers were Wayne Landt, LaMoine Wentz, LeRoy Howard, Larry Schroeder, Jerry Schroeder, Larry Larson, Donnie Baade and Kevin Monroe. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of services.

Walter "Sockie" Bruehahn, 62, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial: Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona. Survivors include his wife, Lois; a son, Wade of Monona; three daughters, Brenda Schneckloth of Ida Grove, Bonnie Lembke of Postville and Barbara Schlitter of Luana; his mother, Gladys Bruehahn of McGregor; and two sisters, Georgia Dull of Falls Church, Va., and Gracie Plumlee of Ridgely, W.Va.
