LaVonne Phillips

Fostoria -- W LaVonne Phillips, 81, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday morn ing, May 15, 2004 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.

She was born April 5, 1923 in Fostoria to the late Truman E and Gertru de F (Fundom) Dillon. She married Earl M Good, Jr and they were divorce d. She then married Thony A Roppe and he preceded her in death Nov. 22, 19 72. She later married Norman F Phillips and he preceded her in death No v. 20, 2001.

Survivors include: two daughters, Paula J (J Robert) Lombardy and Pame la J Huffman, both of Fostoria; four grandchildren, J Robert Jr and Ba rt C Lombardy, both of Fostoria, Veronique L Fournier, Van Buren, and Matt hew A Huffman, Fostoria; six great grandchildren, Andrea F, Elizabeth A, J illian M, and Brett A Lombardy, and Zachary L and Zara R Fournier; and a b rother, Doyle A (Bernice) Dillon, Fostoria.

One grandson, Mark A Huffman, and two brothers, Clyde R and Clifford E Dil lon, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and worked as a secretary at the Gray Printi ng CO Fostoria. She also served as corporate secretary for the Roppe Corp oration, Fostoria, for a number of years. In her early years in spare tim e, LaVonne was a seamstress and furrier.

She was a lifelong member of Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria, whe re she was a deacon and an elder, and served as secretary of the consisto ry for many years. LaVonne was also a member of the Fostoria Emblem Clu b. She was interested in genealogy and enjoyed the outdoors, having gro wn up and lived on a farm for much of her life. LaVonne was a loving wi fe and mother completely devoted to her family, always placing their inter ests before her own. She especially enjoyed spending time with and helpi ng her grandchildren.

Private services will take place Wednesday in the Mann-Hare Funeral Hom e, Fostoria. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia.

Memorials are suggested to Grace United Church of Christ, Community Hospi ce Care of Tiffin, or Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
