Viva A. Barton, 90, died Wednesday at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield after a brief illness.She was born in Penobscot, daughter of Ray and Jessie Hutchins Wardwell, and graduated from the former Castine Normal School.Mrs. Barton taught school in Sedgwick and Blue Hill.For more than 20 years, she worked at the Camden Home Bakery.For the past few years, she resided with her daughter here.She was a friend of Jane Ladd of Lincolnville. Her husband, Harold M., died previously. Surviving are a son, Ray of Stafford Springs, Conn.; three daughters, Erma Folland of Vernon, Conn., Pat Barton of Lincolnville and Jessie Leonard of Newport; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at in Oak Hill Cemetery, Barnstown Road, later. Arrangements are by Laite & Pratt Funeral Home, Camden. -Portland Press Herald 07 February 1995
