Viola A. Jaekel

Viola A. Jaekel, age 91, of Carver, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at her home in Carver.

Viola was born Oct. 6, 1910, at Camden Township, Carver County, the daughter of Herman and Anne (nee Ulrich) Hechsel. She was baptized Oct. 23, 1910 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, by the Rev. Theodore Rolf, and confirmed by Rev. Rolf April 13, 1924, also at St. John Lutheran Church.

Viola was united in marriage to Arthur A. Jaekel Dec. 23, 1931 at St. Mark Lutheran Church by the Rev. Rolf.

Viola loved to garden, work with her flowers, and can vegetables. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Carver.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, parents Herman and Anne Hechsel, and her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children and spouses Dorothy and Russell Moe of Carver, Margaret Heldt of Lester Prairie, Joanne and Duane Lenzen of Carver, Leonard and Myra Jaekel of Cologne; grandchildren Cary Dean Vollrath, Earl and Debra Heldt, Terry Lenzen, Cherry and Tom Knight, Jody and Mike Stacken, Jaclynn Jaekel, and Adrian Ann Lenzen.

She is further survived by her great-grandchildren Mandy and Jason Sturgis, Melanie Heldt, Justin Heldt, Jared Heldt; great-great-grandchild Conner Sturgis; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Louise Hechsel of Howard Lake, Edna and Frederick Hoernemann of Waconia; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services are today, Sept. 23, 2002, at 11 a.m., at Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, with the Rev. Keith Perry of Trinity Lutheran Church, Carver officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Carver.

Cary Dean Vollrath, Earl Heldt, Justin Heldt, Jared Heldt, and Russell Moe will serve as casketbearers.
