Facts and Events
Address: Address 1: 497 N. Hurricane St. City: Franklin State: Indiana Postal code: 46131 Phone: 736-4684 Vesper remembers a tornado around Columbia that all the people were going to see the damage. She was pretty young. A dipper from a water pail had been bent around an iron bedstead. When Vesper was about 15 or 16 years old, she lived with Uncle Joe and Aunt Jane in Russell Springs while Enos first went up to Indiana. School was one room at first and then later, a second room was built. Vesper's teacher for a while was Myrtle Gaskins. All grades were together. After the 8th grade, kids kept coming just to have something to do. In the summer, they went barefoot. The roads were sandy and dusty. They walked a couple of miles to school. Vesper's cousing Lula Aaron taught school some as well as Lula's brother Vernon. Vesper and Herman met in a church in Swigget Store. She remembers that he carried the biggest Bible. 1920 -Census, Russell County - E.D. 251 Sheet 14 (C:/Genealogy Pictures/Lisa's Side (Enos' file)) Enos S, age 34 also Lelar, age 26 Vesper M, age unreadable Arther A, age 4 months Mary E, mother, age 69, widow 1930 -Census, Russell County - E.D. 104-3 Sheet 3 (C:/Genealogy Pictures/Lisa's Side (Enos' file)) Enos S - age 44 Helen L, wife - 38 McQueary, Hobart O, step-son - 14 Bennett, Vesper M, dau - 12 Bennett, Arthur A, son - 10 Bennett, Arlis L, son - 7 Charles E, son age 9 months - 9/12 McQueary, Chloa I, step-dau, age 12 McQueary, Ruby A, step-dau, age 10 References
