Velma Rosetta ASHBY Age 94 of Kent died at the Valley Medical Center in Renton on Christmas day. She was born April 12, 1906 in South Bend, Indiana to Charles & Blanche (Slipper) McLain. She was raised in Cass County, Michigan graduating from #Garden City High School in Garden City, #Kansas in May of 1925. Velma married #Raymond Ashby in 1935 in Kansas and they came to Kitsap County in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1983. She began work at P.S.N.S. in June of 1941 and worked there and at Bangor #retiring in 1966. Velma enjoyed gardening and crocheting, was a wonderful cook and loved to read her bible. A member of the Bremerton Church of Christ and West Campus Church of Christ, Federal Way. Survived by her daughter, Wanda Treick of Kent; grandchildren, Tamy Treick of Auburn, Barbara Treick of Federal Way, Debby Trimble of Okanogan, and Sandy (Mrs. Michael) Shipman of Gig Harbor; great- grandchildren, Keith Scott & wife Abigail, Brian & Kevin Shipman, Gini, Ricky & Kaitlyn Trim ble, and Kableb Keith; a sister, Donna Carlson of Bremerton; and a niece, Christine #Christensen of Bainbridge Island. Funeral #Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the Lewis Funeral Chapel with interment at Miller-Woodlawn Cemetery. Seattle Times References
