  2. Obituary of Valentine Brock, in Russ Williams, "Abstracts of Obituaries from the Minutes of the Magee's Creek Baptist Association," 1.

Valentine Brock was born in Alabama about A.D. 1825, and moved with his parents to Pike County, Miss. in A.D. 1828, in which county he lived until his death. Bro. Brock was married to Miss Barthana Gann in 1845. He united with the Silver Creek Church in August, 1869. He withdrew his membership in 1873 to go into the constitution of Bogue Chitto Church of which he remained an honored member until his death, Feb. 22, A.D. 1881. Bro. Brock was a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief, having had two sons killed; and but a little while before he was called the Lord very suddenly called his companion, which added greatly to the old man's sorrow.
