I just wanted to let anyone know that there is new information recently found for Patrick Napier who was married to Judith Burk. I now am sure that he was first married to Ann Franklin, the daughter of Edmund Franklin who resided in Bedford County, Virginia. For proof, see Chancery court records can be found online in Virginia Memory, case 1763 Bedford County, Edmund Franklin vs Isaac Salkfield. In this case, first begins in about 1761, Edmund is refusing to pay fees charged by Salkfield for medical treatment of his daughter Ann Napier who had a sore leg. He is really very angry and upset and one witness testifies that he heard Edmund say that "Salkfield has killed my daughter". Another witness gives deposition that he knew about the wife of Patrick Napier having a sore leg. It is highly likely that Ann died from this sometime around 1763 and 1764. So it's my guess that it's about this time that Patrick married Judith Burk and they had children. I also believe that Patrick and Ann were married sometime before 1750 or shortly thereafter and had several children, among them Thomas Hughs Napier and probably Sabra and Joyce and a William. I also believe that Patrick and Ann had son named Edmund Napier born about 1754. Some trees lists him as marrying Sarah Corn or Corns. In searching records in Bedford I did find some Burk families and other families that I believe moved to Montgomery County.
The second new find pertains to Robert Napier Sr, court case in 1755 in Goochland County, Indian Jack Hatcher vs Parish. In this case, Robert Napier Sr as he is listed in this case is giving a deposition on June ye' 5, 1753, (the date is hard to read so you may have to enlarge to see 1753) Robert states that he is age 85 and the subpoena shows that he resides in Albemarle County. This puts his birthdate as 1667. He states that about 50 - 60 years ago he had traveled to Henrico with a Captain John Lydall who purchased an Indian woman named Betty Hatcher of Indian trader Edward Hatcher. Betty Hatcher reputedly had a daughter Sarah Hatcher who had a son named Indian Jack Hatcher. Robert also testified that he (Robert) bought from Edward Stratton who was in same company with Edward Hatcher, an Indian boy about the age 14-15 and expected him to serve until about the age of 30 - 33. In this case, Indian Jack Hatcher was petitioning for his freedom from Judith Parish, widow and administrix of John Parish. Indian Jack claimed she had beat him with clubs and knives. He also claimed that he came from a nation of free Indians and that his grandmother had been kidnapped into service. The case was dismissed because Jack died. So, one point is that Robert Napier Sr was alive in June 1753 and residing in Albemarle County. This case also mentions Booth Napier, whom it looks like is serving as one of the Justices for the county of Goochland.
The third court case to mention is that of Henry Chapman vs Joseph Temblin and wife, 1822 Giles County, Virginia. In the documents, this is actually Henley C. Chapman and he's filing to obtain a clear title to land that he had purchased from a man who had purchased it from Micajah Brumfield, one of the heirs of James Brumfield Sr. The important Napier link to this case: James Brumfield Sr had 8 children listed in this case as heirs. They are listed in this order:
    1. Ceiley Brumfield wife of Joseph Temblin
    2. Humphrey Brumfield
    3. James Brumfield Jr, (deceased and lists wife Susanna and 8 children by name 1.
