Rebecca Printy was born January 1, 1836, in Miami county, Ohio. She peacefully departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ada Long, Dec. 17, at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 17 days. In 1842 she removed to Illinois with her parents Jonathan and Rachel Printy. They resided in Pulaski the first winter of their arrival here, living the remainder of her life in Hancock county.

At the age of twenty-one she was united in marriage to C. F. Towles, a resident of this county. To them were born nine children, eight girls and one boy. Three daughters have preceded mother to the great beyond. The husband and six children are living: Mrs. J. Loop, of near Carthage; Sterling, of St. Marys; Mrs. James Scott, near Carthage; Mrs. Edward Austin, of Carthage; Mrs. A. J. Hills, of Jamestown, Kans.; Mrs. Chas. Long, of Webster; and two brothers, J. M. and Henry Printy. These with the grandchildren, other relatives and hosts of friends are left to mourn the departure of a truly good woman.

In February, eleven years ago, she was converted and united with the Christian church of which she has since lived a consistent member.

She always had a pleasant smile and a kindly word for her friends and was a devoted loving mother to her children.

She bore her months of suffering with patience and went to meet her Savior with the expressed assurance that she was ready and willing to go.

The pastor of the Baptist church of this city conducted the funeral services at the Oak Grove church on Monday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Interment at Holland cemetery.
