Letter from Elmer L. Mattox (Claremont, CA), undated (but probably c.1955). From letter: "Nothing is included of the ancestry of Peter Mattox as practically nothing is known of it. It seems that his father died when he was quite young and his mother married a man by the name of Howard, who had only one leg and was known as 'Peg Leg Howard'."
