Regarding the identity of the people whose picture represents Katie's parents, consider these excerpts from an e-mail exchange between Boris Kulnitskiy and Tim Graham during March of 2011, prior to receiving Social Security applications that identified Katie's maiden name as Karanczak:

BORIS: Attached two photos, one of them - photo of grandparents of my grandmother, i.e. parents of Katie (as knew my dad). The nose shape of this man is the same as have all ladies: Katie, my grandmother and Mary from UK.

TIM: I want to know everything your father told you about that old picture of your grandmother's grandparents, in as many of his own words that you can remember. Basically, I want to make sure that they are Katie's parents and not Shimon's parents. ... None of Kaite's children seemed to know what her name was before she was married. If they did know, they didn't tell anyone. So it surprises me that one of Katie's children had a picture of Katie's parents. Did your father ever say what were the names of the people in that picture? Is anything written on the backs of the pictures?

BORIS: The only thing I know from my father, that this picture shows grandparents of his mother. Nothing more. The reverse side of this photo contains no text. I am not sure that in a little town Voznesensk was a photo-studio in 1900. So, our relatives probably lived Russia without this photo. ... The man in the picture and Katie have the same nose shape. I think that this picture shows Katie parents.
