was a teacher for many years. starting her career at Hull Yorks. and finishing up as headmistress at the primary School at West Drayton whereshe retired. She was educated at the Masonic Girls School at ClaphamJunction. After the death of her Mother she was the one who kept theFamily together..For the latter part of her life she looked after herMother living at Park Court Park road Uxbridge Middx. and it was hereshe died. Una Gladys was the first of the Family to have been born at45, Wimdsor Street Uxbridge. It must therefore have been after HenryJoseph started the butchers shop at this address. Una was cousin to mygrandmother Nora (FIELD)-WILBURN and they were quite close friends,corresponding and visiting one another until Nora's death in 1983. BothMarion and my mother Lucy met Una several times both in Toronto and Uxbridge. SH1992 Una was educated at the Royal Masonic School for girls at ClaphamJunction On leaving school she went to Grays Teaching College andqualified as Teacher.Her first job was a school in Anlaby Road Hull. Fromthere she went to Whitehall Rd School in Uxbridge. She was then appointedHead Mistress at The School in West Drayton where she remained for 28Years. For most of her life she remained at Home looking after herMother. It is believed that there was one romance in her life but it wasruined by her Mother.She died at Uxzbridge. aapparently she slipped upon her way to bed and struck her head. She must have lain there for sometime and was found the next day by friends who called regularly to see ifshe was all right. This was the second accident she had had, Previouslyshe had fallen in the bath and was unable to get out of the bath.Fortuneately her friends caleed in the afternoon and rescued her. thething that saved her was that the bathroom heater was on and kepy herwarm,The friends that saved her on both occasions were Bill and Rosie. -RK References
