Tyrus and his brothers Noah and Silas all "among list of soldiers by Seth Hudson, surgeon, at West Hoosac/Williamstown". He signed up with his brother Noah to establish a fort at W. Hoosac, 10 May 1756, at Ft. Massachusetts. Was on muster roll 1754-Mar 1755. Dismantled with brother Noah to fill vacancy at W. Hoosac, 9 Aug 1756. Index to Berkshire County Grantors: sold land in W. Hoosac to Wm. Horsford 21 May 1762.
