  • 21 Jun 1659: John Shercliffe demands one hundred acres of land for having brought Thomas Spalding into the Province of Maryland.
  • 2 Dec 1661: John Shercliffe of St. Mary's County makes his will. Among bequests, he leaves 50 acres of land to his "cousin, Thomas Spalding." It can be surmised a close relationship existed between Thomas and John because Thomas continued to reside with the widow, Ann Shercliffe, after the death of her husband.
  • 22 Mar 1667: St. Mary's County - Spalding completes surveys of St. Giles property, consisting of 116 acres.
  • abt 1673: Thomas Spalding marries Catherine Hall.
  • 27 Jul 1674: Mrs. Catherine (Hall) Spalding proves her right to 50 acres of land for "service" under Lt. Col. John Jarboe. This acreage goes to her husband, Thomas Spalding.
  • 1688: St. Mary's County - Thomas Spalding acquires William's Hermitage, consisting of 109 acres.
  • 2 Feb 1690: Thomas Spalding witnesses the will of John David.
  • 28 Jul 1698: Thomas Spalding appears in court to prove the will of John Davis.
  • Mar 1710: Spalding sells 42 ac of Spalding Addition to his son, William Spalding. No wife signs the deed, so it can be assumed that she is deceased. This is the last known record of Thomas Spalding.
  • Spalding probably died abt 1713. There is no known record of his death.
  • Spalding probably died intestate. There is no known record of his will.
  • Spalding's five sons are named through court proceedings: John, William, Thomas, Jr., Peter, and Edward.
