      • Charlotte Cordell Smith died August 06, 1862. I believe they were living

in Whitley Co, KY at that time. She most likely is buried in Whitley Co, KY. Thomas then moved to Campbell Co, TN area and five months after his first wife's death, he married Delphia Hackler from Campbell Co, TN, on January 14, 1863, in Campbell Co, TN. Thomas B. Smith died April 27, 1863, and will not show up in any census.

    I have a Charlotte Cordell, born Dec. 21, 1829 in Georgia that was the first wife of Thomas M. Smith.  They married Feb. 16, 1848, and she died Aug. 6, 1862 in Campbell Co., TN.  One of their daughters was Emily Smith, b. 1853. (Emily married George Douglass in 1870 in Campbell Co., TN)

Thomas Smith then married Delphia Hackler on Jan. 16, 1863. 

    The only other information I have is from a biography on Thomas Smith which reads:

"Thomas Smith was the third child of James and Nancy (Meadows) Smith. He married on Feb. 16, 1848 to Charlotte Candell, daughter of Stephen Candell. She was born in Georgia on Dec. 21, 1829 and died Aug. 6, 1862. They had six sons and three daughters, but one son died." 

    We know that Charlotte's last name was Cordell NOT "Candell."
