Birth: Dec. 28, 1887 Peale Clearfield County Pennsylvania, USA Death: May 4, 1942 Logan Clackamas County Oregon, USA "Thomas Lamont Rumgay was born at Peale, Pa., December 28, 1887, and died at his home, route 2, Oregon City, May 4. Funeral services were held at the Peake Funeral Home at Milwaukie, May 7. "Mr. Rumgay, a farmer of the Redland district, and a locomotive engineer on the Union Pacific Railroad since 1916, had been in ill health for the past seven months and been confined to St. Vincent's Hospital on three separate occasions. "Mr. Rumgay was married to Miss Maud Jenkins of Meyersdale, Pa, in 1911 and came to Portland two years later. In 1923, they moved to Clackamas County, first at Lakewood station, then Courtney station and 10 years ago to Lower Logan. Always interested in horses and livestock, Mr. Rumgay in his later years helped his son Lamont Rumgay in the development of the purebred Guernsey stock on his farm and the promotion of the Monta Rosa dairy, operated by his son. "The last few years he had been a member of the engine crew of the Union Pacific's 'Streamliner' and last summer was spent at Hermiston when the new munitions depot was constructed there. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, Neighbors of Woodcraft, and the Masonic Lodge. Besides Mrs. Rumgay, he is survived by his sons, Lamont, Thomas Jr., and Keith; his daughter, Zedythe, and three grandchildren, Monte, Kenneth and Judy Anne, children of Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Rumgay."
