Thomas Merwin, b. say 1610; d. in Nov. 1701. In 1634, his uncle Anthony Merwin, yeoman, of Clewer, Berkshire, bequeathed to him a house and three-acre garden in Clewer, and the sum of 50s. In his will, dated 4 Nov. and proved 17 Nov. 1701, Thomas Merwin of Clewer, yeoman, made bequests to his kinswoman Elizabeth Robinson and her three children; and to Margarett Stevens and her two children Charles Fisher and Margaret Stevens. He noted that "whereas my nephew Richard Youse I suppose to be heir apparent to me yet for further confirmation and in full assurreance of the matter I doe give and devise all my reall Estate … in the parish of Clewer … to my said kinsman Richard Youse and to his heires for ever." To Richard Youse and his wife he gave 10s apiece "to buy each of them a Ring," and appointed Youse and "my loveing ffriend John Harwood of Windsor" joint executors. Witnesses were William Round, Ann Round, and Mary Plasto [her mark].
