Thomas Jefferson Lewis joined Reformed LDS church in 1841 and
traveled to Iowa with Brigham Young after the assassination of Joseph
Smith in 1844. He split with Young in Nebraska and returned to Monoma
County, Iowa in 1854, where he helped found Preparation, Iowa, a
communalist LDS community.
