Thomas Hilley and his wife Mary were deeded 150 acres of land on the shores of Stone House Creek in Amherst County, Virginia by Mary's father, Nathan Bond. They sold their Amherst County land in 1788. They then moved to Wilkes County, Georgia in the part of that county that became Elbert County in 1790.
