Similar dates are found in several secondary sources, with some discrepancies, but no such record is found in the Ipswich (or any) VRs. No source for the date is given in any of the sources. Source:Preston, Eugene Dimon. Genealogy of the Barney Family in America, p. 282, gives this same date but places the birth in Ipswich, England. Source:Bowen, Clarence Winthrop. History of Woodstock, Connecticut, Vol. 6, p. 380, gives 20 Feb 1684, as does Source:Davis, George W. John Grow of Ipswich : John Groo (Grow) of Oxford, p. 18. So this date appears to have little authority/credibility.
