Thomas3 Gilbert (Jonathan,2 Thomas1), born at Hartford, Conn., probably in August, 1658; died at Boston, Mass., Feb. 9, 1718/9, in 64th year; … Thomas Gilbert probably remained in Hartford until the death of his father, although it is possible that he went upon voyages at an earlier age, while his father was living. In 1690 he was commander of the Swan and in the expedition to Canada in that year he showed himself brave and enterprising. In later years and at the close of his life, he was an innholder at Boston."
