Another entry says he was born 21 Dec 1831 (1832?). 1880 Census of Coalville, Summit, Utah: Thomas Eynon, self; md; male; w; age 47; born in Wales, coal miner; parents born in Wales. Information from Mr. Taylor: Thomas Eynon was born 21 Dec 1832. Know your Eynon and Related Families by Luella Grace Eynon Garton: At a conference in Myrthr Tydfil, Jul 17, 1855, Richard and his son, Thomas were in attendance. Thomas was second counselor with his fahter in the Rymney Branch. The Rymney-Bedwelty Branch at Rymey, Monmouth gives information on Richard and his son Thomas and other Eynons. The Branch at Tuyn, Carmarthenshire, records as Thomas Aynon and Edward Burgoyne blessing a baby. Also the Myrthr Tydfil Branch records contain information about the Eynons. Thomas and his wife and two daughters left Wales between 1859 and 1861. Thomas was a coal miner. On 23 Dec 1854, he married Elizabeth Edwards. Thomas Edwards was a step-father to Elizabeth. Her real name was Elizabeth Evans. Her real father died in a coal mine accident about 1834-1835 in Pembrokeshire. Her mother's maiden name was Martha James. Soon after their marriage they moved to Mountain Ash where their first three children were born, John, Martha and Mary Ann. Their 4th child, Sarah Elizabeth was born Jul 1861 at St. Clair, Scuykill, Pennsylvania. In 1864, they lived in Swatarrow, Pa. where Thomas Francis was born. Thomas applied for citizenship 1 Oct 1866 at Pottsville, Scuykill, Pa. After Thomas was born they decided to move west. First they moved to St. Clair where Richard was born, 21 May 1867. Between 1867-1868 they kept moving west, settling in St. David, Fullton, Illinois where William was born 30 Dec 1868. They then moved to Bryant, Illinois where another son, Joseph was born 25 Jan 1871. He soon died. They moved to Bloomington, Ill and had Francis, 15 Dec 1873. Five years later, they settled permanently in Coleville, Summit, Utah in a nice two-story home which had been built for them. Here they had their last child 22 Feb 1878 named James who died in infancy. Two years later, Elizabeth died, 7 Nov 1880. Thomas continued to live there for several years. In his declining years, he lived with his dau. Martha Eynon Thomas, where he died at Kemmerer, Wymong 14 Feb 1902 and buried by his wife, Elizabeth in Coalville, Utah. He was a coal miner in the U.S. He registered for the Civil War but it ended before he was called to serve. He was a quiet, loving man, loved and honored by his children who often sought his council on many problems. |
