Thought to have been a descendant of a Scottish branch of the Century. Lived in Newport, RI; Fulton, Massachusetts; and Middleboro, Massachusetts. Among those Drinkwaters who served the American cause in the Revolutionary War were: Lt. Joseph Drinkwater, Daniel, John, Joseph, Perez, Samuel, Thomas, William, Privates; and Daniel, David, Samuel and William Drinkwater,Among the earliest records of the family in America are those of John Drinkwater, who emigrated from England and settled in Henrico Co., VA, in 1637.
