    Thomas, also a shoemaker, left Brechin in 1877 to settle at Walter's Falls, Grey County. There he met his future wife, Phoebe Ann Delaree. Thomas and Phoebe were married and for many years Thomas operated his shoe business and raised his family in Walter's Falls.
