Facts and Events
Mr. Floyd, always know as Ted, was able to live alone at his home in Beckley for over two years after his wife Marie died. He had open heart surgery in 1990, recovered from this, but due to a leukemia disease and lung deterioration, his ability to live alone became impossible.
His daughter, Jeanne, assumed the responsibility in seeing to his care. She moved him to Johnstown and he lived in a very nice care center near her home. Ted accepted his new environment with some hesitation, but in a short peroid of time he made new friends and became a favorite in the home.
Ted was a retired manager from Montgomery Ward, a member of the Beckley Regular Baptist Church and was a Marine Corps veteran, having served in World War ll. He was the last surving member of his immediate family.
Military graveside rites was conducted by inspector staff and reservists from Co. A 4th Combat Engineers Battalion out of Charleston.
