Thelma E. Roberts, 88, of Big Spring, died Saturday May 3, 2014 at Parkview Nursing Center. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Pastor Doug Shelley of Eastside Baptist Church officiating.
She was born to Tessie and Solon Barnett in Colorado City on January 22, 1926. She came to Big Spring from Colorado City at an early age. She was a Navy Clerk in Washington D.C. at the beginning of WWII and worked as a Med Nurse at the Big Spring State Hospital. She started the Hot Potato Band and called bingo at the senior citizen’s center for several years. She also loved to play dominos and play the French horn. She was married to Pete Howze who preceded her in death and later to Malcolm “MO” Roberts who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by three nieces: Henrietta Cates of Big Spring, Suzanne Wilkins of Arlington and Willie Mae Greenfield of Sand Springs; one nephew: Jerry Robertson and his wife of Coahoma; all of “Mo’s” family and especially Scott McKenzie of Big Spring.
In addition to her parents and both husbands she is preceded in death by one son Keith Howze; two sisters: Isabel Robertson and Macil Harris; two brothers: james Barnett and Bill Barnett along with two nephews. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
