Temperance, the daughter of Anne Clere by William Gilbert, was a legatee in the 1605 will of her grandfather Edward Clere and in the 1608 will of her father. Her mother too died while she was young, passing away before Nov 1616.[1]

Temperance married second William Hopkins in 1633 at Alvaston, Derbyshire. She was named in her son John's will in 1644. Administration of the estate of Temperance Hopkins, who had "died overseas" was granted 6 Nov. 1648 by the Prerogative Court at Canterbury to her husband William Hopkins.[1]
