Sylvia (Lanning) Smith
Sylvia (Lanning) Smith, 94, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Greenwood Village Pavilion. She was a resident of Greenwood.
She was born July 29, 1907, in Clinton County. Her parents were James W. and Lula (Laughner) Lanning. She married H.G. Smith. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Herbig of Indianapolis; a sister, Madge Evans of Frankfurt; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Thompson.
She was a homemaker and a member of Olive Branch Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school.
She was a member of Prospect Chapter 452 Order of the Eastern Star.
A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at G.H. Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
