Sylvester Crossman passed out of this life at his home, 19 Smith street, Monday, at 4:45 p.m., after nearly three months' illness with Bright's disease. He was 63 years, nine months and 22 days of age, having been born in the town of Mamakating, Sullivan county, July 1, 1853, a son of Charles T. and Julia (Beers) Crossman. He was the youngest of a family of 11 children, two of whom survive, Morris, of Titusville, Pa., and John H., of Brooklyn.
On September 8, 1880, he was united in marriage to Isabella French who survives him with three children, Alva, of Dubois, Pa., and Clarence and Howard, both of this city.
The greater part of this life was spent on the farm where he was born. In the latter part of 1904 he sold his farm and removed to this city, where he was employed by the N. Y. O. & W. R. R. Co. He was a member of Ellenville Lodge, I.O.O.F.
