Obituary published in the Evangelical Messenger S1

SHUPP--Our esteemed Sister Susannah, wife of Michael Shupp, and mother of Rev. N. Shupp of the Ohio Conference, died in Lykens Tp., Crawford Co., Ohio, December 20, 1877, aged 60 years and 6 months.

Sister S. was afflicted with a chronic disease for a number of years, and was confined to her room most of the time. She embraced religion over 41 years ago, under the labors of Henry Bucks, joined the Evangelical Association, and remained a faithful and consistent member until death. She was one of the first members of the Broken Sword class of Crawford circuit, and one of the first to receive the servants of God into her house, where they have ever since found a pleasant home. Sister S. was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She bore up under all her afflictions with Christian fortitude, expressing a living hope of heaven. Se was conscious of her approaching end, and passed away in the triumph of faith. She leaves a sorrowing husband, 12 children (2 having preceded her), 43 grandchildren, and one great-grand child, besides many relatives and friends. Funeral services by the writer in the English language, and by Rev. F. Lust in the German.
